China's ferro silicon output largely stable in Mar'24
The ferrosilicon output of the 136 Chinese smelters surveyed ended two consecutive months of decline and remained basically stable in March, with tonnage slightly increasing by 1,471 tons or 0.3% month-on-month to 425,965 tons. The output of the surveyed smelters accounts for 95% of the country's total output.
Regarding the slight rebound in ferrosilicon production last month, it was mainly due to 1. Increased downstream demand from steel manufacturers and magnesium (Mg) manufacturers; 2. Weak raw material prices led to a decrease in ferroalloy production costs in some areas of the country, which also prompted some ferrosilicon Smelters ramp up output.
It is worth noting that the weak prices of raw materials for ferrosilicon production have weakened the prices of ferroalloys to a certain extent.
