China’s electrolytic manganese production decreases in December2023
In December 2023, China's electrolytic manganese output was 97,500 tons, a month-on-month decrease of 0.29% and a year-on-year increase of 12.11%. China's total electrolytic manganese output from January to December 2023 was approximately 1.0692 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 36.53%. The main reason for the slight reduction in output in December was that some manganese enterprises in Hunan and Hubei, China, suspended production. However, during the same period, Guizhou, Guangxi, China also resumed production and increased production. When the decrease in production was used to offset the increase, the overall output showed a slight decrease.
On the demand side: China's total stainless steel crude steel production increased in December, but the 200 series production continued to decrease. The main increase came from 300 series stainless steel. However, due to the concentrated release of steel production from January to February, electrolytic manganese Demand support throughout the month is acceptable.
Entering January, all manganese plants are still operating at 70% of production capacity. However, some manganese plants plan to suspend production until after the Chinese New Year, and the overall supply in the manganese market has turned to decrease. According to the manganese plant production scheduling survey, the supply side is expected to produce approximately 92,300 tons in January.
Hainan West Asia Group predicts that manganese prices will be firm in January due to the release of demand from downstream rhythmic purchasing and the reduction in output of some manganese plants. However, in the long term, from the perspective of supply and demand, the price of electrolytic manganese may remain stable in the future.
