EU basic alloy market summer off-season

Demand in the European base alloy market remained rather weak over the past week, which did not affect ferrosilicon prices, but consumers continued to put pressure on manganese alloy prices.

Silicon manganese (65%Mn; 16-17%Si) traded in a fairly wide range of €1230-1350/t DDP. At the same time, single sales were possible at the upper limit and were limited to small quantities (no more than 100 tons). Therefore, despite high production costs, especially manganese ore prices, and high freight rates, the lack of sufficient demand continued to put pressure on prices. "Meanwhile, alloys from Zambia are currently offered at €1250/t CIF, while alloys produced in India can be purchased at $1200/t CIF.

High carbon ferromanganese (75%Mn) prices on the European market are in the range of €1300-1330/t DDP. Ferrosilicon (75%Si) is stable in the range of €1450-1500/t. As in the manganese alloy sector, consumer demand is quite weak, but prices have not fallen due to the lack of cheaper material on the market.
