Industrial silicon application analysis

Industrial silicon is a strategic emerging metal material, and its upstream is the production link, including the mining and selection of silicon ore, and then the primary smelting and refining of industrial silicon. In the upstream smelting process, silicon coal, petroleum coke and graphite electrodes are very important reducing agent consumables. At the same time, the industrial silicon industry is a high-energy-consuming industry. The production of 1 ton of industrial silicon consumes about 13,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity, and the cost of electricity accounts for a relatively high proportion of the total production cost.

The middle reaches of industrial silicon are mainly used in four directions:

(1) aluminum alloy, adding silicon in the aluminum alloy casting process can improve the high temperature fluidity and wear resistance of the alloy, while reducing shrinkage and thermal cracking tendency;

(2) Organosilicon, that is, organosilicon compounds, has the properties of both inorganic materials and organic materials. It has basic properties such as low surface tension, small viscosity-temperature coefficient, high compressibility, and high gas permeability. It also has high and low temperature resistance, electrical insulation, oxidation resistance and stability.

(3) polysilicon, metal silicon can be prepared into polysilicon after further purification. Polysilicon is an extremely important photovoltaic and semiconductor material;

(4) Refractory materials, etc.

The downstream application fields of industrial silicon are very extensive, and the industrial chain covers many important fields of the national economy. Among them, silicon-containing aluminum alloys can be used in the manufacture of automobile engines, building materials, automobile hubs and other products; organic silicon is widely used in aerospace, electronic and electrical, construction, transportation, chemical, textile, food, light industry, medical and other industries; polysilicon is mainly used In the fields of photovoltaic power generation, semiconductors and integrated circuits; refractory materials are widely used in steel, non-ferrous and chemical industries.
