The new goal of the Belt and Road Initiative, China and Russia jointly build the Ice Silk Road

Russia is an important partner of China in international cooperation on the Belt and Road Initiative. Major infrastructure projects such as the China-Russia Eastern Route natural gas pipeline will soon be put into operation. When Russian President Vladimir Putin delivered a speech at the Belt and Road Summit for International Cooperation, he said that Russia invited relevant countries to develop the Northern Sea Route, which will soon be navigable all year round, and also said that countries can realize connectivity through Russia. Current plans for the "Ice Silk Road" are focused on the Russian side of the Northern Sea Route. The "Ice Silk Road" can greatly shorten the navigation and transportation time between China and Europe through the use of the Arctic sea route. In addition, the areas along the road are rich in energy and mineral resources and have broad development prospects, which is conducive to promoting the development of the Arctic Ocean coast. With the advancement of the "Belt and Road" Initiative, the "Ice Silk Road" as an important part of it has been accepted by more and more countries, and conditions have been met for a new stage of multilateral cooperation in many aspects.
