The price of metal silicon powder in China is declining

Due to the suppression of the price decline in Silicon Metal blocks, the mainstream price of 99% min Silicon Metal powder in the Chinese market has started to fall from 300 CNY/MT to 15,300-15,800 CNY/MT since the beginning of last week. Given the weakness in the price of Silicon Metal blocks, industry insiders expect that the mainstream price of 99% min Silicon Metal powder in China will further decline next week.

A consumer in Inner Mongolia revealed that he purchased 2,000 MTs of 99% min Silicon Metal powder from a conventional supplier at a price of 15,500 CNY/MT with a 180-day acceptance this week, while earlier last week, the supplier insisted on 15,800 CNY/MT (2208 USD/MT). The consumer disclosed, "Since early November, the price of Silicon Metal blocks has dropped by about 500 CNY/MT, and my main supplier reduced prices this week." He added that due to his negative outlook, they are currently maintaining the minimum purchase quantity, and he expects the mainstream price of 99% min Silicon Metal powder in China to still have downward potential this week. The PolySilicon plant, with an annual consumption capacity of 100,000 MT of Silicon Metal powder, is expected to consume about 6,000 MT in November, consistent with the previous month, with a stock of about 10,000 MT.

Another consumer in Qinghai Province revealed that he purchased 3,000 MT of 99% min Silicon Metal powder from a conventional supplier at a price of 15,300 CNY/MT with a 180-day acceptance this week, while the supplier insisted on a price of 15,500 CNY/MT earlier last week. The consumer revealed, "Affected by the decline in the price of Silicon Metal blocks and the pessimistic forecast for 2024, most of my suppliers reduced prices by 300-500 CNY/MT this week compared to two weeks ago." He expects that, influenced by the increase in northern supply, the mainstream price of 99% min Silicon Metal powder in China will further decline in the coming week.

The PolySilicon plant, with an annual consumption capacity of 120,000 MT of Silicon Metal powder, is expected to consume about 8,000 MT in November, consistent with the previous month, with a stock of about 20,000 MT.
